Considerations for Admission
Returning Families
Currently enrolled students will have first priority to re-enroll until January 31, 2025. Siblings of current students will also have priority registration.
New Families
New families who have completed the application process, and been offered admission by OLMS, will begin to be placed in available classroom spots on February 10, 2025. A deposit and initial paperwork will be required to hold a child’s spot in the class.
Preference is given to children entering the Montessori environment at younger ages. Students are eligible to attend OLMS the August after their 3rd birthday, if they are toilet trained. Gender is also considered to create a balanced classroom.
Primary Level Admissions:
Three and four year old children will be admitted, followed by five and six year old children. For older Primary children, preference will be given to those with Montessori experience.
An assessment prior to acceptance may be required to assess the child’s adaptability to the Montessori environment. The assessment will be conducted by an OLMS Primary level Guide in consultation with administrative staff.
Elementary Level Admissions:
Lower Elementary and Upper Elementary children are accepted on an exceptional basis.
An assessment prior to acceptance is required to assess the student’s adaptability to the Montessori environment. The assessment will be conducted by an OLMS Elementary Guide in consultation with administrative staff. Preference will be given to elementary children with previous experience in Montessori and/or independent learning environments.
WAIT-LIST information
After February 10, 2025, we will continue to fill available classroom spots on a rolling basis until classes are full. When a class fills, a wait-list of accepted students will be created.
* Only families who have completed the application process and been offered admission will be placed on the wait-list.
* Deposits are not required for families on the wait-list.
* OLMS strives for a balance of boys/girls and various ages within each classroom. When a spot becomes available, a family on the wait-list whose child's age and gender fit the opening will be contacted. The family will then have an opportunity to put a deposit down to hold that spot.
* We do not keep a wait list year-to-year. However, if you are on the wait-list for the upcoming school year, and your student does not receive a spot in the classroom, please let us know if you wish his/her name to be rolled over to next year’s prospective student list. All prospective students are considered anew each year that they are on the prospective student list. While we may not require a family to complete the observation and interview again in the following year, we must hear from an interested family in the year prior to anticipated enrollment to let us know you are still interested in OLMS for your child.
* If you are interested in enrollment for a very young child, you will need to complete the application process in the academic year prior to your anticipated enrollment. Students are eligible to attend OLMS if they turn 3 years old before (or shortly thereafter) the beginning of school in August, are toilet trained, and show general readiness to attend school. You are welcome to submit your Family Interest Form now. There is no priority given to families submitting these forms early, and doing so does not constitute a "place in line". But this will enable us to keep you in the loop for future communications. Please continue to check back with OLMS closer to your anticipated enrollment year.
We encourage all families who are interested in enrolling for the 2025-26 academic year to submit a Family Interest Form and schedule your school tour in order to begin the application process as soon as possible. Thank you for your interest in Our Lady's Montessori School!
